Art Education Scholarship Program Terms and Conditions
Regular attendance is an important part of the learning process. Missing two or more classes may affect eligibility for future scholarships.
Scholarship Eligible Courses
•Scholarships for individual short/semester courses are offered in the spring and fall.
•Each year two Violette de Mazia Scholarships will be offered for students to complete the two-year certificate program. Recipients of the Violette de Mazia Scholarship must complete the certificate within three years, or the balance of their scholarship will be forfeited. Exceptions to this are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
•Receiving a scholarship for one course does not guarantee scholarships for additional courses.
•Scholarships are not awarded for off-site, summer, and horticulture classes or tours.
•Only one scholarship will be awarded per person, per semester.
•For Individual short/semester courses, please fill out the application form.
•If you are applying to the Violette de Mazia Scholarship for the two-year certificate program, please fill out the application form and, additionally, submit a letter of support from a mentor or former teacher. Recommendation letters for the two-year Violette de Mazia Scholarship may be submitted separately from the rest of the application, but the application will not be reviewed until all materials arrive.
•Incomplete applications will not be considered.
•The application statement must be between 200 and 300 words. The statement will be considered in scholarship determination.
•An applicant can list up to three class choices so that if an applicant’s first preference can’t be accommodated, the applicant can still be considered for another class.
•The scholarship program is need-based.
•The courses are generally aimed at adults, but some exceptions might be made for minors thirteen or older with a demonstrated ability to participate in college-level classes.
•Applying does not guarantee a space in the class.
•Depending on availability, applications received after the deadline may be considered on a first-come-first-served basis.
•Scholarships cover tuition only. Students are responsible for buying class materials.
•Registration must be finalized within one week of scholarship award notice or scholarship is forfeited and class space is not held.
•Scholarship applications and awards cannot be transferred from one class to another except with express permission from the Barnes Foundation Education Department.
•Scholarships cannot be transferred between semesters or people.
